Don't Spread Yourself Too Thin - Monday Marketing Tip - How To Be Successful WAHM

Monday Marketing Tip is to not jump from business to business, marketing project to marketing project! Don't spread yourself too thing and become master of none!

"But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me." ~ 1 Corinthians 15:10

FOCUS is Follow One Course Until Successful

Whether it is blogging, working from home or working out of the home, spreading yourself too thin is of no benefit to your business, blog, marketing or family. Don't get me wrong! There is no harm in wanting to do and be your best (i.e. maybe you add a lead generation program to your business and make it available to your team; maybe you need or can handle 2 blogs and their marketing). That is not what I am referring to here. I am writing this Monday Marketing Tips blog post for those who are trying to build and manage a bunch of business opportunities at one time or a bunch of blogs at one time or taking on more work than your job entails ... and thinking it will make you more successful. You can only wear but so many hats and have people take you seriously. You can only do so much on your own and think that you can be the best at all. This is especially true in marketing. Most of all, God will only bless your best as he sees fit and he is not a God of disorder. You cannot spread thin on working hard for Him!

Business marketing, blog marketing, services marketing - All 3 take planning, focus and time. Unless you have a team of people that can do what you do and the way you want them to do it - so that you do not need to baby sit - Spreading yourself thin between business ventures and business marketing is just not effective. You make yourself look inefficient and end up feeling that way, too. That does not create long term winning experiences. Sorry, but YOU WILL NOT create the multiple streams of residual income that you desire by selling yourself short in these areas: focus, planning, organization, dedication, consistency, etc.

"Jack of all trades, master of none"

Focus on doing your best at one thing instead of spreading yourself too thin trying to be magnificent and successful at so many things. It just does not work that way. You can Google "multitasking" and see what Forbes.com, Psychology.com, and PBS.org have to say about this. I am not talking about cooking, washing the dishes and doing laundry at the same time; I mean trying to build multiple businesses on your own or multiple time consuming marketing tasks on your own. You cannot focus on being successful at the most important goal if you are bouncing around and spreading yourself thin between one, two, three, four, five ...

Yes, it is awesome to want to create multiple streams of residual income and / or multiple marketing resources and / or multiple creditably. You just have to knock them out one at a time - unless you have a team - opposed to spreading your valuable time between a whole bunch of projects and generating nothing. For example, if you start a home business for one type of product or service another awesome "once in a lifetime" business opportunity pop up. There is always going to be "something bigger and better" in your eyes if you cannot fully commit and focus on more than you can reasonably hand at one time. Why would you want to? More does not always equate to successful. Why take from any area of being and doing your best to be less and master of none?

"Either you run the day or the day runs you" - Jim Rohn

There are only 24 hours in a day. This is something that just does not change over time, therefore we need to make the most of the waking time in those 24 hours. Moms obviously have less time for self and work because children / family need your time, too. You have to focus and prioritize on what is the most efficient and rewarding in your life, so that you can have time for all that is most important in your life which is GOD, YOU, FAMILY and then work / money.

Learn from the experience of other and grow from doing what is proven to work!

I am going to end this Monday Marketing tip with the one last point. Learning from the experience of others will be helpful to you in work at home business and business marketing. Ideally it would be to learn from people who are successful as you want to be, but we can certainly learn as a spectator of failure as well. It is often that we learn from our own failures that create success in us. I am sharing what I have learned over the years from those who have been successful in business, family, life; where I failed and was successful, too.

(This video is short and sweet about this Monday Marketing Tip; Tyler Perry witnesses nothing but the grace of God and focus on the one task at hand)

Start one business and do well at it before you move on.

Start one blog and do well at it before you move on and start another.

Start one marketing plan / marketing process and do well at it before you move on and add another.

Memorial Day Blessings | Romans 8:38-39

Memorial Day Blessings To Veterans and Soldiers
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 NIV

Over the years, Memorial Day is a holiday that has developed priority in my life. It is a reminder of those veterans who put their life on the line for us, as well as those who have survived the soldiers that did not make it. War became real to me during the 911 bombings and over the years under Bush's reign. Above all else, this holiday really makes me think about my sweet Grandfather ...

My Grandfather is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Army. I watched him raise the flag each day, on his porch, every time I visited his home. I could rest assured that it was there even when I was not with him and would see it waving as I passed by in my car. We always had picnics on Memorial Day and other patriotic holidays. My Grandfather volunteered at the Veterans Association (VA), was honored numerous times in the community and participated in local or coastal parades each Memorial Day, Veterans Day and spoke whenever invited until this year. I should have known better while growing up, but I did not realize how close to home Memorial Day hit until I grew older. Many say Happy Memorial Day, though I am not so sure how "happy" of an occasion it is for those missing loved ones and friends.

As my Grandfather approached his 70s, my awareness of his feelings about Memorial Day increased. In fact, he had lost most of his friends and loved ones by the time he turned 70 years old. Now that he is 89, he often mentions that he has survived all of his friends, 4 of his 5 siblings, and lost his oldest son in a car accident before I was born (my uncle drove off the road while attempting to return home to his family from the army). I still can not imagine missing my friends and family for so many years, none-the-less my child.

Sometimes I call him and we discuss his military career; sometimes we discuss my family and other times we discuss old friends and family that have passed on. One thing we do not talk about is whether he has killed or how many people he has seen die over the course of his military service. We do reminisce about when he went into the army, his being a buffalo soldier, the fact that he has been honored more times than he has wall space for plaques, that he made it further than many would expect a black man of his generation and retired from a career of service to our country. LOL, sometimes we talk about their most recent shop at the PX or, on a more serious note, what the VA had to say at his last check up.

The other day we discussed his disinterest in traveling to attend this years Memorial Day parade. He normally rides in the parade float as one of the oldest representatives on the east coast. His body just did not feel like making that ride and no one can blame him for not wanting to risk the discomfort at his age. Yet, all of the years of parades were on his mind. His conversation then shifted to the ages his parents lived to be (94 and 103 years old) and how much time he thinks that he still has on this earth. Yes, he is trying to determine how much longer he has on this earth before he will die. He is a Christian, therefore I hope that there is comfort in his heart about being with God ... he and I have not gotten to the point of discussing whether he is afraid to die or not.

Although this is a painful reality to me, I am certain that my feelings cannot compare to a lifetime of losses and remembering so much of everything; he is a prime example that growing old does not always mean that you lose your memories. I thank God for helping me understand such things through His word, as well as the wonderful Grandfather he blessed me with and the other people that he has placed in my life. As I grow older, I am starting to remember those that are no longer with me, too. I guess this is an unmentioned part of "the cycle of life" or am I a late bloomer?

Regardless, above all, my Grandfather is a reminder that there are so many other grandparents, parents, children, family members and friends that feel emotional on Memorial Day! I have "met" quite a few wives online that have recently lost their husbands and my heart goes out to them ... I pray that they will find comfort and that some one is keeping them close this Memorial Day!

I stopped saying "Happy Memorial Day" a long time ago ...

I find it more appropriate to say "thank you" to all of the brave men and women that have kept us safe and free over the years; as well as to the active soldiers that are handling what we do not understand and know about right now, too. I also feel it appropriate to keep those who survived wars in mind as they are the ones that have so many to remember, miss and honor on Memorial Day!

God Bless You!

Happy Easter | Good Friday & Resurrection Day | Crucifixion & Resurrection of Jesus

Good Friday, Happy Easter, Resurrection Day, 2012

Happy Resurrection Weekend - Good Friday & Easter Day 2012

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ~ John 3:16

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” ~ John 11:25-26

Crucifixion of Jesus & Resurrection of Jesus Christ

As a child, these were the most influential scriptures in my life. Grab your child's Bible and read to him / her or here us a Crucifixion & Resurrection video for older children. Christmas and Easter are the times of the year when smaller children can relate best to the blessing of the birth of Jesus and sacrifice of his death; this will make Jesus more real than Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Not to take away their fun, but to make a lasting impression of the love of God and WHY we celebrate the life and death of Jesus Christ.

Natural / Organic Food - Monsanto / Pesticide Free - Why Is It So Hard To Buy Local Foods

Learn more about the sustainable food movement. Buy local Florida organic food

This is not a radical anti-establishment / horrible Monsanto post, that will come later. Mine is a story of guilt and anger over processed foods, genetically altered, pesticide & fast foods ... How could we let them do this to us? How could I ignore the facts and God's will?

I have struggled with my weight since having children (18 years ago). This is not because I didn't eat my veges or couldn't lose weight, but that the "bad foods" always took over my willpower; especially when it came to choosing which foods to buy according to our budget (I love a good deal) and portion sizes. As a result, it would take me years to lose weight after having a baby. I also fed my family professed foods, genetically altered foods, fast foods, corn syrup and pesticide infected meats and vegetables that I thought were healthy.

Sustainable Food Movement - Pesticide Free / Healthy Organic Foods Movement

This chapter of my life is titled "My Personal Struggle". It involves guilt ridden realizations that motivated me into taking responsibility for the food choices that I have made for my family and dedication to breaking the cycle.

It really broke my heart when my husband gave our baby a hotdog for the first time. I swore that I wasn't going to do "THAT" to "THIS" child, but who cold blame him? I fed the baby a chicken nugget, crackers and cookies, so many times, and gave him toddler baby formula (soy) after he weaned from breastfeeding. In fact, I put the hotdogs on the store list despite knowing that they are not good for us (even our preferred store bought beef hotdogs). Prior to this baby, my entire family and I have been feeding children and eateneating "bad foods" for generations. It was only my step mother's health obsession (as I was growing up), my grandparent's gardening and fostering my love of vegetables, my mother's "fat" prejudice and going to the farmer's market when I was young, that confirm that I am right about how I feel regardless of whether I ever read an article, food label or warning about the type of food we eat in the United States. Ironically, it was also these family members that embraced processed foods, fad dieting, chemicals, pesticides, fast food, etc, as fell as fostering larger food portions, eating everything on my plate whether I was fool or not, and sweet foods made from unhealthy flours, sugars, etc. I would never blame them because that is how life transpired as we became more industrial in this nation, but they could have done better despite the food fads (like turning off the TV and educating themselves on how to keep "things" as simple as what they had learned from family members on the farms and remembered from their radio listening childhoods. Instead of preserving the "old school" and flower child ideals, they sold out to the bigger, larger, more is better, brainwashing that our corporations and government has supported for decades!

Healthy Food & Lifestyle | Taking Responsibility & Making Changes

I heard the "rumors" about genetically altered foods; knew the benefits of exercising and eating healthy, since I was a child. I know that cigarettes cause cancer, as well as Aspartame and other chemicals in our foods. I remember reading about the first case of BSE when I was a kid (1980s) and especially the Mad Cow Disease epidemic in 1993 because that was when my son was born. It wasn't long after that my mother bought 1/2 a cow from an organic farm near our city and gave me plenty to last. My guilt is in knowing all of the basic health information and ignoring it, as well as not researching and learning more about the "rumors" ... especially since I was a biology student for so many years. I have no excuse for not feeding my children natural / organic foods except for the fact that it was easier, cheaper and, sometimes, more fun to be irresponsible about our health. I also have no excuse for all of the years of smoking, drinking and, various forms of, gluttony after having children. I was just sick with regret for all of the years that I let my children eat processed foods and fast foods, and then anger for feeding them pesticide foods that I thought were good for us once I decided to drop the other bad foods and make more healthy choices.

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Even non-Christians know this scripture quote about our body being temple, yet we ignore it as easily as we ignore God's other instructions and laws. It starts from the top of the food chain and ends in our hearts. The problem that we are having (others and my family) is that the government and corporations have made it virtually impossible to go "back to basics" in this world. I am not only referring to our food sources, but also the generations of change in products, utilities and leadership in this nation.

My husband and I have been making changes since the beginning of this year. It started with childhood and adult experience, listening to people trying to educate us on what is wrong and right according to the Bible, health, etc. I sat and watched Fresh The Movie when they made it available online and free in January 2012. I highly recommend attending a viewing or buying this movie if you can ... it is safe enough for children to watch and educational for those who are interested in a healthier way of life. The problem that I have had since watching Fresh The Movie is the extreme guilt of what I have done to my body and the health of those I love, as well as anger towards the impact of media, corporations and government for the choices they have made for us. For example, soy, potatoes, tomatoes, apples, corn, ice cream, pet food, etc. genetically engineered? Why is our infant formula, flour, syrup, oil, pet food, processed foods, etc made with non conventional ingredients? Why does a bottle of vitamin C taste like salt, plus have sodium and Yellow 6 in it? Why does Monsanto's genetically engineered bovine growth hormone (rBGH) infect meats, dairy and pesticides on the vegetables needed to eat and make flour, corn meal, coffee, etc. Why does our local food get shipped to other states and out of the country ... why do we eat imported foods when the exact same foods are exported from our country?

Most importantly ... why is it so hard to find and buy organic foods; especially 100% organic local foods and at the same market value as the "bad foods" that companies and the government approves for us? Why can't I find non-GMO (GMO - Genetically Motified Food) in some cases? Why does the government let Monsanto have such control over our foods and fund industrial farming? I even have to screen every single farmer and take tours in order to buy local organic foods. In many cases, such as pork and certain vegetables, only natural is available and this upsets me.

Change is not easy! On the other hand, it should not be this difficult for those who chose to shop for natural / organic food and products. Our family is making this change despite the costs and time; including growing some of our own foods, exercise and educating our other family members. I am wondering if you have been considering or have made the change to Organic Foods and healthier life changes? Please comment below and follow at networks; I will follow back so that we can learn and share with one another.
