38 1/2 Years Older Than My Baby - Almost 40 Years Old ... Ecclesiastes 3 ... Comes To Mind

1st trimester pregnancy 12 months after baby born

1st Trimester (Energetic, Athletic, Pain-Free, 38 Years Old)

Post Pregnancy (Exhausted, Chubby, Achy, 39.5 Years Old)

Today I woke up feeling "some kind of way" about my age. My exact thought was that "I am 21 years older than my 1st son, 25 years older than my 2nd son and 38 1/2 years older than our baby boy ... what was I thinking?" I woke my husband and tell him. He just said "yeah" and went back to sleep, but the baby gave me a nice jump on the stomach and crushed my breast with his palm. That was followed with a kiss and smile to reward me when I moaned in pain (that's boys for ya!). That was the exact moment that I thought what I never believed that I would think, "Uh, I'm getting too old for this!".

Is this what 40 is like? Different than "Over 35" now that our baby is a toddler?

As I wiggled my foot with the chronically sore heal and broken toe (I broke my middle toe a few weeks ago while tripping on the Xbox drum set that I confiscated from my tween), I realized that this was just the beginning to the aches and pains that I will feel in this second part of my life. As I adjusted my body to pull the baby back into place between us, I felt the sharp back pain where my old lady hump MIGHT be someday ...

For the 1st time in my life, I admitted to "self" that "I am getting old" and hurried out of bed in fear that I wouldn't be able to get up because of old age.

I changed the baby's diaper and started my day thinking that I need to get "things" done. I though about all of the little things that I want to accomplish today, as well as the fun things and business goals that I have planned for the rest of my life. As I played this "things game", I realized that this must be what people go through when they are turning 40 years old. WEIRD!!! I thought it would be a body crumbling and "how do I look" thing ... HUM, I guess it is :)

Aside of the "girls" being deflated from nursing again and the "baby fat" that I am trying to work down ... I know that I do not look 40 years old, but ...

My Uncle in Law's jaw hit the floor when I told him how old I was going to be 40 this summer. He stuttered an "What? I would never have guessed you were that old maybe 30" and I sighed in relief because I do not want to look like that 40 year old I felt sorry for when I was in my 20s. My husbands cousin said that she "did not realize you were almost 40. I was thinking 31 or 32 ... having a hubby face hides any wrinkles" ... OK, that works for me, but what about when my baby weight is gone? My husband is always impressed that I "do not have crows feet at all" and one of my best friends always brags that "we do not look our age" ... Yadada! Yadada! Yadada! All I can do is sigh at the words.

I am afraid that I will wake up with Hillary Clinton eyes one day soon ... YUCK!

Today, none of this matters because my sore foot and aching back told me "what's up". So did the circles under my eyes that met me in the mirror this morning. They are from a whole year of NO SLEEP from a baby boy that likes to make sure that we are still watching out for him 2 to 5 times a night ...  "Uh, I KNOW that I'm getting too old for this!". I am going to have thinning black eyes if he doesn't start to sleep at night soon. On the other hand, I am so glad that he stopped nursing before those 4 molars came in this month. I had black eyes, sore foot, aching back and throbbing nipples towards the end of his nursing days ... I assure you that sore and leaking REALLY makes you feel old!!! Anyways, now that he is not nursing and a year old, I am ready to get my sexy back for sure. Moms, I am open to product suggestion for these under eyes of mine, too ... You can go ahead and put this in my comment section - I promise that I will not write another BAD COMMENTING post if you leave an eye miracle product in my comment section!

What Do My 80 year old Grandparents Think Each Morning?

The only thought that calmed me today was remembering my Grandparents and distant Aunt Jo. All are well in their 80s and self-sufficient. My Grandparents drive and visit the office (casino) at least once a month (sometimes until a good 6:00 a.m.). Aunt Jo still travels abroad ... WOW. I remembered how my Grandfather used to tell me that "we come from a line of long livers ... you better take care of yourself". I have since confirmed that he meant that our family members live to be 80 to 100 years old; not that my liver organ was long and needed special care as I grew older ... duh! I remembered how my Grandmother said that she was "getting to old for this" when I told her that I was pregnant with my 1st child and "really getting to old for this" when I told her that I was pregnant with my 2nd child. Meanwhile, she was older than I am when I was born and she sure looked beautiful and took excellent care of me through the years, and caters to my children to this day. Now that I have our baby, she just says that "children are for the young; enjoy him". This is from a woman that maintained a HUGE gardened until she was almost 80 and wears a petite size. There's an argument for veges, chicken, pig feet, chitterlings, dark chocolate, an occasional cocktail and smoke!

C'est la via! I am almost 40 ...

My back feels better once I get out of bed and moving for the day. My bra keeps "the girls" in check; my kids keep me feeling active and younger ... I turn to the oracles for their opinions: My mother's reply to my aches is "How do you think I feel?" and her reply to my looking young "40 was a good age". On the other hand, my step-mother's response, "40 is very young. Appreciate it for how young it is right now so when you turn 60 you don't have to say that you didn't appreciate it when you should have. Follow me ????". I told her that I hope I make it to 60 years old and she said, "You'll make it to 60 and better. Actually 60 is young if you're older." are understandable and confusing to me.

Almost 60 years old? Older than 60 years old?

Hum, I wonder if we are free from judgement if we choose to have a Nip / Tuck around 60 years old! I sure have nothing bad to say about Cher when it comes to that! She must have REALLY felt 40 years old knocking on her door. On the other hand, I know this is the way that God intends it to be. I would not have been able to have my 3rd son if He did not think that I should have a baby at 38 1/2 years old. I grew up with the first two sons and I will grow older with this baby. I will grow old with this husband of mine.

Ecclesiastes 3 also comes to mind this morning ... Praise God!

Ecclesiastes 3: A TIME FOR EVERYTHING

1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
9 What does the worker gain from his toil?
10 I have seen the burden God has laid on men.
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the
hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

12 I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy
and do good while they live.

13 That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil
--this is the gift of God.

14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it
and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

15 Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before;
and God will call the past to account.

16 And I saw something else under the sun: In the place of judgment
--wickedness was there, in the place of justice--wickedness was there.

17 I thought in my heart, "God will bring to judgment both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity, a time for every deed."

18 I also thought, "As for men, God tests them so that they may see
that they are like the animals.

19 Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both:
As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no
advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the
same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.

21 Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal
      goes down into the earth?"

22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a man than to enjoy his work, because
that is his lot. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?

Pictures of Mariah Carey Babies | Baby Twins Roc & Roe | Abc News 20/20 Interview and www.DemBabies.com - #dembabies

Mariah Carey's Baby Twins Pictures, Roc & Roe, #dembabies pictures

All I can say is "Thank you, Barbara Walters" for the awesome interview with Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. It's about time! Alyssa Milano, Tori Spelling, Christina Applegate and other Over 35 celebrity moms did not wait this long to let us see their little angels ... I know that celebrity moms are just as protective of their children as we are (probably more), but #DemBabies are 6 months now and, aside of my beautiful Baby Max (big smile), the Carey-Cannon twins) are some of the cutest babies I've seen this year. I am thinking that Mariah probably wanted to take off some of the baby weight first because this is exactly what I would want to do, too. Anyways, here's the 20/20 interview with Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon, Roc, Roe and Barbara Walters. Mariah Carey shares how difficult it was to lose their first baby by miscarriage and then the challenges of getting pregnant through fertility hormone therapy and then staying pregnant with twins because it was hard on her body. Lets face it, pregnant with twins at 41 years old is not the norm nor easy on a body, but the Lord continues to bless Mariah Carey abundantly; this time with a boy and girl baby twins. Praise God!!! It is just incredible and so exciting to see how the celebrity couple are enjoying their twin babies:

Wait! It gets better ... Nich Cannon and Mariah Carey launched a website of the babies - http://www.dembabies.com and it has a ton of adorable pictures of Mariah Carey's twins. Check it out! I could not put on this site because the publish rights are for sale and funds contributed to Fresh Air Fund's Camp Mariah that helps inner city kids explore career / educational options while in a fun filled camp environment. It looks like a really nice program.

Congrats again to Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon on #dembabies. Your twins are adorable. I look forward to watching how they develop and what talents they will share with the world.

Alyssa Milano's Baby Boy Milo Thomas

Alyssa Milano Baby Boy Milo Thomas - Another Over 35 Celebrity Mom

Alyssa Milano Is Another "Over 35" Celebrity Mom

David Bugliari and Alyssa Milano gave birth to Milo Thomas on August 31, 2011 (Wednesday) at 9:27 A.M. Baby Milo weighed 7 lbs and was 19 inches long. It is just 5 weeks later and this 38 year old mommy looks almost as beautiful as her newborn baby (see image above courtesy of US Weekly). Like the rest of the "over 35" mommies in the USA, I feel like I grew up with this actress, therefore I am so excited to read the news of her first baby. She told US Weekly "she's staying nanny-free" and I commend her for that choice because the first few weeks (in fact, the baby's first year) can become quite an adjustment for a new mommy. A lot of celebrity moms hire a nanny to the "quality of life" that come with their status, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having a baby. I wouldn't want a stranger bonding with my baby, therefore I think it's really cool when a celebrity mom and dad wants to do the parenting on their own.

Congrats to Alyssa Milano and David Bugliari on the arrival of their precious baby boy.

We look forward to seeing more pictures and following your parenting example.

Mariah Carey Had Twins On Her Anniversary - #dembabies - April 30, 2011 - Nick Cannon

Mariah Carey Twins Babies Born 4/30/2011 at 12:07 p.m.
Looks like we can finally add Mariah Carey to celebrity moms list ... Woo Hoo!

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey gave birth to twins at 12:07 p.m. today, Saturday, April 30, 2011. The baby girl was born first at 5 pounds 3 ounces / 18 inches long. The baby boy came second weighing 5 pounds 6 ounces / 19 inches long. Both babies are healthy and mom is doing just fine ... Mariah Carey's representative, Cindi Berger, said, "It was like right out of an 'I Love Lucy' skit. Apparently, 30 year old, Nick Cannon was comically nervous and Mariah was calm. I bet the 41 year old singer hit new octaves in the deliver room while giving birth to #dembabies. Now, she is a mommy of two the world is waiting to see :) Hopefully, they will announce the baby's names and share pictures of the twins soon.

As if this celebrity love story was not exciting enough, it happens to be that the twin babies were born on Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's 3rd wedding anniversary. They were married on April 30, 2008 in the Bahamas. Nick Cannon tweeted “My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life!” What a way to celebrate an anniversary ... Praise God! That Mimi sure knows how to put "diva" in everything she does and Nick Cannon will certainly have a hard time finding ways to top this anniversary present!

(Update on May 4, 2011 - Mariah Carey Names Twin Babies)

What did Nick and Mariah name their twin babies? Their daughter is named Monroe Cannon (named after Mariah Carey's inspiration Marilyn Monroe - the baby girl does not have a middle name because Mariah does not have one) and their son is named Moroccan Scott Cannon (after the "The Moroccan Room" where Nick proposed to Mariah; Scott is Nick's middle name).

(Update on October 22, 2011 - Mariah Carey Names Twin Babies)

What do the Cannon-Carey twins look like? Check out these pictures of Maria Carey's babies - #dembabies are so cute :)

Congratulations to Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey on your healthy bundles of joy. We can't wait to watch #dembabies grow over the years :)

Mariah Carey Is Still Pregnant - Twins Babies Coming Soon (Boy & Girl) - Hubby Is Ready!

Mariah Carey fans can't wait to see the "Carey-Cannon Twins", and Nick Cannon says that baby bags are packed and they are ready to go ... ANY DAY NOW ... Woo Hoo!!!

I've held off as long as I can, but I had to post at least one blog about one of my favorite over 35 and pregnant celebrity, Mariah Carey. She is due to deliver any day now and I am just as anxious as the rest of the Mimi fans that have been patiently waiting for the arrival of the "Carey-Cannon Twins" (YES, this is how they are referenced on Mariah Carey's website ... ). Nick Cannon announced that the babies are were expected to arrive this Spring (April 2011 / May 2011) during the interview with Spike Lee on his Rollin' talk show. He told Elllen DeGeneres that they have the hospital bags packed and ready to GO GO GO ... the following is a video of Nick Cannon on the Ellen DeGeneres show on April 27, 2011:

As you can see, Nick Cannon is one proud papa in the waiting. I love how he tells Ellen that Mariah is due "any second ... we've got the bags packed ... I'm ready!". Little did I know that Mariah's gone further than most people with twins have made it through their pregnancy (she's such a diva). How about when he says, "I think they're like, uh, got college educations already". How comical for Nick Cannon to explain it this way, but just like any first time father, he sounded so excited when he told Ellen "We've got the bags packed ... I'm ready" ... The funny thing is that although this celebrity comes across "calm, cool and collective", he admitted that he is very squeamish about being in the delivery room and that Mariah Carey is "calm" and "cool" one about having these twins. Isn't that how it typically is when we get close to delivery time?

HERE ARE SOME RECENT PICTURE OF MARIAH CAREY PREGNANT:

My ultimate goal was to share this incredibly personal moment with my true fans.” (http://www.lifeandstylemag.com/2011/04/post-44.html)

Christina Applegate & Baby Girl Sadie Grace

Christina Applegate and baby Sadie on People Magazine
Christina Applegate gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Sadie Grace LeNoble on January 27, 2011 (one month after I gave birth to Baby Max). It touches my heart to read and watch Christina Applegate share her childbirth experience. In 2008, she was diagnosed with breast cancer at 36 years old. Her battle with breast cancer resulted in a double mastectomy. Yet, at 39 years old, she has given birth to a healthy baby girl. They were featured on People Magazine this month and the following is a video where Christina Applegate shares her child birth experience on The Ellen Degeneres Show. I was surprised to hear that she hated the feeling of the epidural and ended up in natural childbirth. Meanwhile, I though the epidural was wonderful and improved so much since I had my first child!!! Applegate also mentions what she felt like after having the baby:

"... just that moment they were pulling her out, I dropped my gwon, which I don't ... you know This part of my body is very private"... that's a real private place. A place that I don't have a good relationship with, lets say, but at that moment of pulling her out and I just tore that thing off and there's a room full of people that I don't know - nurses and doctors - and she and I just laid there ... It was the best thing that's ever happened to me."

Ellen Degeneres responded with "that's beautiful" ... I think most mothers in the audience would agree. Some may have even relived that childbirth experience. There is nothing like it in the world. Lets all extend a HUGE congratulations to Christina Applegate (39) and fiancé Martyn LeNoble (41) on the birth of their sweet baby, Sadie Grace. My the Lord continue to bless you!

You can leave your congrats message for Christina Applegate & Baby Sadie in the comment section below!

Penélope Cruz Baby Boy Leo Encinas (January 26, 2011)

Penélope Cruz baby boy named Leo Encinas born December 27, 2010
Penélope Cruz's Baby Boy: Leo Encinas - Isn't He Beautiful?

Can you believe that Penélope Cruz (Age 36) and Javier Bardem had their baby boy ONE MONTH after we had baby Max and one day earlier than Christina Applegate? TOO COOL!!!! Their baby boy's name is Leo Encinas and the picture above shows that he is quite the precious one. I love that although this celebrity mom is very private about her personal life, Penélope Cruz did not play with the tabloids and released this picture so soon.

I wish this Celebrity mommy all of the happiness in the world. Blessings to your family!

This over 35 and pregnant celebrity looks fantastic in her baby bump. Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem (married July of 2010) are expecting their first child in January 2011. She will be 36 years old when she gives birth. I personally think this is a great age to have a baby.

Having A Baby Over 35 & Pregnant | Sharing My Baby Experience & Life As A Parent

Almost 40 and Pregnant ... Mature mom shares her parenting experiences and baby blog

"I cannot explain what it is like to be over 35 years old and pregnant
EXCEPT that it has been quite an experience" ~ LC Hunt :)

Hello, my name is Lea and I am the CWAHM (Christian Work At Home Mom) of a teen and a tween. I am expecting my 3rd child in just a few weeks and am feeling extremely nervous because I am an older mommy (age 38) and feeling really heavy right about now.

CLICK HERE to learn more about my family and me!

Although this is my 3rd child, I am extremely nervous about this pregnancy. What if something goes wrong? What if the doctors missed something and our baby is not born healthy? What if something happens to me? Both of my older sons insist on being in the room while I am in labor
... Is this a good idea?

WHAT WAS I THINKING?

These are some of the things going through my mind this month. Meanwhile, our baby is due the first week of January ... The excitement is more than we can bare, though their is always an overshadow of nervousness that my body is too old to have a baby. I do have to admit that this was the best pregnancy I've had -well until the end when it felt like the baby would drop out - but I am hearing the same things from 1st time moms. Maybe that is not an age issue, but that babies are heavier or our bodies are different. Here is a list of what I experienced during my pregnancy:
  • I developed high blood pressure with this pregnancy.

  • I was rather fit before pregnancy, but put on about 30 pounds in my 1st trimester. My over all weight gain was more than I would have liked it to be, but I am always a fat pregnancy lady :)

  • The nurses and staff treated me differently because I was an older mommy to be. I was considered high risk and always had to answer the same questions over and over again. Additionally, it was hard to find a new OB / GYN when we moved and I needed to find a doctor that was closer. Thank God, I found one that treated me like gold.

  • I was really tired the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. This is more than I was used to being with my 1st two sons.

  • I started growing grey hairs like crazy.

  • I was always so hot. I could barely wear PJs or a gown at night.

  • My water retention was more than it was in previous pregnancies.

All-in-all, being pregnant over 35 was ok; not much worse then when I was 21 and 25 years old except towards the end when it felt like the baby was falling out of me when I walked a lot.

Being almost 40 and pregnant does have it's risks, advantages and disadvantages. Can you relate? If you were over 35 and pregnant, share your experience in the comment section below.

UPDATE: I was induced and had our baby on December 27th while my family was in town for Christmas. It was an incredible experience of minimal pain and lots of family support. My older son got to cut the cord and - little did I know - my 11 year old son was at my side and dispensed the epidural when I needed it. My mother and husband were also by my side. Praise the Lord for this wonderful blessing of having a baby over 35, my husband and loving family. We named our baby Maxwell. He was a healthy 7.7 lb baby boy that had no complications (my other two boys did have complications during labor).
