Mariah Carey Had Twins On Her Anniversary - #dembabies - April 30, 2011 - Nick Cannon
Looks like we can finally add Mariah Carey to celebrity moms list ... Woo Hoo!
Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey gave birth to twins at 12:07 p.m. today, Saturday, April 30, 2011. The baby girl was born first at 5 pounds 3 ounces / 18 inches long. The baby boy came second weighing 5 pounds 6 ounces / 19 inches long. Both babies are healthy and mom is doing just fine ... Mariah Carey's representative, Cindi Berger, said, "It was like right out of an 'I Love Lucy' skit. Apparently, 30 year old, Nick Cannon was comically nervous and Mariah was calm. I bet the 41 year old singer hit new octaves in the deliver room while giving birth to #dembabies. Now, she is a mommy of two the world is waiting to see :) Hopefully, they will announce the baby's names and share pictures of the twins soon.
As if this celebrity love story was not exciting enough, it happens to be that the twin babies were born on Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's 3rd wedding anniversary. They were married on April 30, 2008 in the Bahamas. Nick Cannon tweeted “My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life!” What a way to celebrate an anniversary ... Praise God! That Mimi sure knows how to put "diva" in everything she does and Nick Cannon will certainly have a hard time finding ways to top this anniversary present!
(Update on May 4, 2011 - Mariah Carey Names Twin Babies)
What did Nick and Mariah name their twin babies? Their daughter is named Monroe Cannon (named after Mariah Carey's inspiration Marilyn Monroe - the baby girl does not have a middle name because Mariah does not have one) and their son is named Moroccan Scott Cannon (after the "The Moroccan Room" where Nick proposed to Mariah; Scott is Nick's middle name).

Congratulations to Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey on your healthy bundles of joy. We can't wait to watch #dembabies grow over the years :)

Mariah Carey Is Still Pregnant - Twins Babies Coming Soon (Boy & Girl) - Hubby Is Ready!
Mariah Carey fans can't wait to see the "Carey-Cannon Twins", and Nick Cannon says that baby bags are packed and they are ready to go ... ANY DAY NOW ... Woo Hoo!!!
I've held off as long as I can, but I had to post at least one blog about one of my favorite over 35 and pregnant celebrity, Mariah Carey. She is due to deliver any day now and I am just as anxious as the rest of the Mimi fans that have been patiently waiting for the arrival of the "Carey-Cannon Twins" (YES, this is how they are referenced on Mariah Carey's website ... ). Nick Cannon announced that the babies are were expected to arrive this Spring (April 2011 / May 2011) during the interview with Spike Lee on his Rollin' talk show. He told Elllen DeGeneres that they have the hospital bags packed and ready to GO GO GO ... the following is a video of Nick Cannon on the Ellen DeGeneres show on April 27, 2011:
As you can see, Nick Cannon is one proud papa in the waiting. I love how he tells Ellen that Mariah is due "any second ... we've got the bags packed ... I'm ready!". Little did I know that Mariah's gone further than most people with twins have made it through their pregnancy (she's such a diva). How about when he says, "I think they're like, uh, got college educations already". How comical for Nick Cannon to explain it this way, but just like any first time father, he sounded so excited when he told Ellen "We've got the bags packed ... I'm ready" ... The funny thing is that although this celebrity comes across "calm, cool and collective", he admitted that he is very squeamish about being in the delivery room and that Mariah Carey is "calm" and "cool" one about having these twins. Isn't that how it typically is when we get close to delivery time?

4 Month Doctor Appointment
Picture of Baby Max - 4 Months Old - April 2011 - Sits up with support, plays with toys, smiles / laughs out loud, eats cereal, coos, loves watching the Sprout channel.
Max just had his 4 month check up and it went well. I have to admit that I was not thrilled about having to take him to get his immunizations (his father handled his 6 week well baby appointment). I hate to see them hurt my baby with those vaccination needles, but I was excited to see how much he has grown over the past 2 months. The bitter sweet reality is that parents are so excited to help their babies develop and hit milestones, but they grow up so quickly that we are sad when we realize that they are not our babies anymore. I have to admit that he did look so cute wile drinking the Rotavirus. It also showed me that babies can drink from a cup if the flow of liquid is reduced. Max also performed for the nurse and doctor. He smiled and laughed for them. I don't know why he liked the examination table so much, but Max got so excited that he looked like he was swimming the back stroke for them. It was comical.
Anyways, Maxwell is now 15 lbs 2.08 oz and 24.5 inches long. This puts him in the 58% for weight and 36% for height. His head circumference is 16.37 inches (33%). I think my jaw hit the floor when the nurse told me his weight was only 15 lbs ... I could have sworn that he was 20 lbs by now. He looks so much bigger than when he was 6 weeks old. He was 10lbs and 22 1/2 inches at his 6 week check up. I am surprised because he looks like a little butterball to me. Max is so round and compact; his chin, belly and thighs are chubby. Plus, Max is out of his newborn, 3 month and some 3 to 6 month clothes! I guess it is just that he is short in comparison to his weight, so he looks bigger than he is.
I guess Max's frame will be similar to my middle son. He was always right on track with age and clothes size (so he wore 3 month clothes when he was 3 months old and 12 month clothes at 1 year old). My older son was always in the 90% to 95%. I hate that I look forward to seeing if I am right, but as I mentioned above ... the bitter sweet reality is that parents excitedly help their babies develop and hit milestones (even push them sometimes), but our babies grow so quickly and it sad once we realize that they are gone. I look at Max's newborn pictures and see how much he's changes and it makes me kind of sad.
I am over 35 years old and this is my 3rd child ... I love that Baby Max is developing, but I wish that I could keep him my little butterball a bit longer. The few inches and pounds made a huge difference in just a few months. Ces't la via! Next will be his 6 month appointment.
BTW: Aside from sleeping a little more than normal, Max had no side effects from the vaccinations.

Autism Awareness Month - April
I watched CBS's The Talk, for the first time, the other day (April 1st). This episode was to recognize Autism Awareness Month with Holly Robinson Peete (21 Jump Street, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, For Your Love) as their leading advocate for families living with autism. This subject hits close to home as my middle child was diagnosed with ADHD and ODD with one doctor insisting that he had ASD (High Functioning Asperger Syndrome). This show was a "tear jerker" for the hosts, guest and audience alike. I watched for the entire hour although Max had only nursed 20 minutes :) It was that great!
"1 in every 110 children will be diagnosed with autism in this country. It's the fastest growing developmental disorder in the U.S.; there has been a 600% increase in the last 20 years - that's a lot! More kids will be affected by autism that AIDS, Cancer, Diabetes combined, yet it only gets 5% of the research funding of other diseases." ~ Holly Robinson Peete
The show began with Holly and her husband sharing their experience in detecting, diagnosing and helping their child with autism. Theirs is a unique situation where the child with autism is a twin. In other words, one twin has autism (boy) and one twin does not have autism (girl). Holly was on the show to educate the public on Autism by sharing her story of how challenging it was to raise a child with autism and how rewarding it became through her perseverance, advancements and autism resources that helped her son, RJ. The point being that her son made tremendous improvements over the years because of the advantages that she and her husband were able to provide, though other children with autism are not as fortunate without all of our help. She was humble, though truthful while explaining that they spared no expense nor effort in making sure that their son had every advantage. Holly also explained that autism is one of the fastest growing, though least funded disorders. Most families do not have the same resources available to their children with autism.

HOLLY ROBINSON PEETE - PART 2 - AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH VIDEO GUEST SPEAKER ON CBS's THE TALK - VIDEO OF IST SHOW
I can't help to feel gratitude towards Holly Robinson Peete for being a celebrity that "stepped up to the plate" to become an advocate for families living with autism. I know from experience that it is not easy to admit and expose your child's spectrum disorder. As her testimony explains, she thought that she had "the perfect life" and this came hard on her family. Autism has that affect on parents and other family members. I have asked God to continue to bless the impact that she and others will make in the lives of others. It would be wonderful if you could pray and encourage others to do the same, as well as whatever you can to support their efforts as funding for research is minimal - all the way around.
April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day and "kicks off" Autism Awareness Month. Please take time to educate yourself on AUTISM and share this blog post with others. Comment below if this blog post touched you or experiences to share!

Autism Awareness Day - April 2
April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day - How can you help?
Autism does not discriminate. It affects people of all nations, but some people with autism suffer terrible discrimination, abuse and isolation. Autism is a complex disorder, though we can see improvements with the right treatments. That is why it is so important to raise awareness to better meet the needs of people with autism. April 2nd is World Autism Day and begins Autism Awareness Month. Please educate yourself and others on the importance of raising awareness, funds and compassion for this spectrum disorder. Both children and parents could use the support.
April 2nd is World Autism Day and begins Autism Awareness Month. Autism Speaks is the nation's largest autism science and advocacy organization. It is their “Light it up Blue” that helps us honor this day worldwide and launch the Autism Awareness Month campaign. With the "Light It Up Blue" campaign, major buildings in the USA and Worldwide use blue lighting in support of World Autism Awareness Day and to raise awareness of Autism. Your community can do the same on April 2nd and throughout the month.
Learn more about AUTISM and what to watch for in children, family and friends. Visit http://www.worldautismawarenessday.org to learn how you can help raise awareness in your community! Although AutismSpeaks.org launches this "day" off, it is a year long / lifetime commitment for those of us with Autism / ASD in our lives.
Make sure to check out Autism Awareness Month to watch Holly Robinson Peete's interview and campaign for autism awareness.
